Tips & Hints
The axle slots that are cut into standard blocks are too tight for BSA axles that are .089" diameter. Small axle slots make it difficult to get your axles in straight. A #44 drill bit is .086", which I find too tight. Consider a #43 Drill Bit, which is a perfect match at .089" for a snug fit.
Put a coat of wood primer on your car before painting it because pine wood is porous and will absorb the first coat of paint. Lightly sand the primer after it dries, then apply a final coat (or two) for a clean, finished look.
When it comes to Pinewood Derby racing, Rules are not meant to be broken. Check with other racers or your race manager before your race to clarify what is allowed and how your car will be inspected when it is checked in.
This was my 7-year-old's first Pinewood Derby and he won 1st! We followed your Winning Pinewood Derby Secrets and his car smoked other the cars by 4-5 car lengths each race. Thanks again.
Pinewood Pro gets 'er done cuz we finished No.#1, thanks Joe!!!

Great tips in your Winning Secrets book! This was our first year and my son was the overall District Winner. There were 250 racers at the District race so I'm guessing we have something like 1,000 scouts in our district. With that type of competition you need these tips to be competitive.

Keirsten's car won first place in her troop and grand champion out of all the other troops that participated.
I can't even put into words how excited, proud and happy my daughter was each time her car won. Worth every penny, plus more. Thank you SO MUCH Pinwood Pro!
