    Choosing pinewood derby weights

    Tungsten is the densest weight we sell, and it's non-toxic. Because it's so compact, you can fit it into smaller pockets and cover it with wood putty or wood filler for a sleeker look. Choose 2 oz or 3 oz cylinders for drilled holes, cubes for small cavities, or a canopy weight that sits on top of the car like a cockpit. Tungsten putty and spheres are made for fine-tuning.

    Zinc screw-on weights attach to the bottom of the car with the included screws. Flex weights can be cut with scissors and stuck on, so they're the easiest way to add a little weight at check-in.

    Where to put the weight

    Bring your car as close to your race's weight limit as you can, usually 5 oz. Then place your weights so the car's center of gravity sits 1 to 1¼ inches in front of the rear axle.
