    Pinewood Derby Graphite and Lubricants

    Lubricating your axles is the single biggest speed gain you can make on a pinewood derby car. Our PRO Graphite blends ultra-fine graphite with molybdenum disulfide (moly), which helps it cling to axles and wheel bores longer than plain graphite. In our track tests, our PRO Graphite added 17 to 22% more speed, depending on the axles used.

    Graphite with moly vs. plain graphite

    Moly adheres to metal, so our graphite holds on longer instead of wearing off after a few runs. Our PRO Graphite comes in two versions with the same formula: the standard squeeze tube, and the needle tip, which puts graphite right into the wheel bore with less mess. Both are CPSIA tested and certified.

    How to apply pinewood derby graphite

    Puff graphite onto the axle shaft and into the wheel bore, then spin the wheels to work it in. Add more and spin again. Apply it at home before race day, since some venues don't allow graphite on site.

    Races that don't allow graphite
