Hello
to you all at Pinewood Derby Pro.
I'm a general contractor in Washington State. I also dabble
in cabinet making. We have three boys and they all enjoy working
with wood as well. They use up all my scraps making boats, birdhouses,
stools, you name it - they make it. Recently they have put together
several pinewood derby cars in anticipation of the upcoming
season of races. We have tried to make the perfect vehicles
thru various means, talking to friends and scanning the Internet.
Eventually we located you on the web and low and behold all
the tips, plans and directions for building a pinewood derby
racing car were right before our eyes. We are using more than
scraps now!
We
ordered a guide from your site as well as your axles and wheels .
This book is just chock full of tips, tricks, hints, instructions
that are easy to understand and the designs are exciting. I
found the axles and wheels to be of the highest quality. My
boys have their summer projects all ready "cut
out." They
haven't participated in any competitions but have attended a
few and will certainly point their pinewood derby car down the
ramp with the rest of them in a month or so. There is an event
coming in October and they are very excited. The kids have commanded
what seems to be half of my workshop for their hobby. We also
have most of the neighborhood kids interested in joining the
fun. I'm documenting their progress. One of them is quite an
artist and he has painted a flame on his. They are basically
already involved in a pinewood competition considering the time
and effort each of them are putting into it.
We
are sure glad we found you .
I feel a little foolish because I am a cabinet-maker and general
contractor and I couldn't come up with the plans myself. The
three of them will try out their derby car on Sunday on our
makeshift ramp. Their mother will catch the cars at the bottom
. She wonders where they got their creative streak
from.
I'll
let you know how our race turns out.
