"This made adding weight so easy. I drilled 7/16" holes in the back of the car and cut the weight with scissors and was done!"

    3.8 out of 5 stars

Tundra Flex Weight cylinders are a flexible steel composite weight for pinewood derby cars with the density of lead but cheaper than zinc!

    Advantages:
    • Lower cost than zinc with higher density.
    • Non-toxic and child-safe.
    • Easily cut with a scissors.
    • Can be sanded and painted.

To add flex weights to your car, place the car block, axles and wheels on a scale. Cut the flex weight cylinders with a scissors so the total weight is 4.9oz.
Then, drill 7/16" holes in the rear of your pinewood derby car block. Insert the weights and seal with wood filler.

    Packaged as two 25/64" x 5" cylinders.

Density is ~4.3g/cm3, significantly lower than zinc (7.1g/cm3). These weights are far too bulky for any slim profile car.

    Easy to use
These weights make it easy to embed the weight inside the car, which is good for aesthetics. And the fact that they are easily cut with scissors means you can be very exact with the amount of weight needed. I helped my 2 kids build their cars this year. The holes were drilled in the rear of the cars early on, but the weight wasn't added until the very end (after the wheels were on). One car ended up being 4.99 oz and the other 5.00 oz. Nice!
